The High Cost of Low Quality Machinery

August 12, 2011

If you’re in the maintenance department of any type of industry, you know that owning top quality equipment is vital if you want everything to run smoothly. If a press breaks and is inoperable, this would cause considerable aggravation because the press would be rendered useless. But wasn’t the press that was purchased already expensive to begin with? The truth of the matter is that the quality of the machine is not always reflected in its price.

You don’t always have to spend the big bucks to get the best quality:

When purchasing a type of hydraulic press, many people are under the impression that the most expensive machines will be the ones that will perform at optimum level in the long run. That is not always the case, expensive and quality don’t always go together. No matter what was paid, what makes a quality press isn’t the price but how it was manufactured. RK Machinery puts more thought in the press that will be built for their client. They carefully select the parts used in manufacturing the press for reliability and for local availability to allow the user to reduce downtime for regular maintenance and repairs.

The low pressure system employed by RK Machinery uses parts that are very easy to find when they need to be replaced.  Many North American manufacturers incorporate a high 700 bar (10 152 PSI) pressure system in their machines and are built with special parts that can be expensive to replace when they break. These parts are not readily available anywhere. Not only are the parts hard to find, but a system that uses high pressure makes the press very dangerous for the operator, severely wounding or even killing him when the hydraulic system springs a leak.  RK machinery hydraulic presses are much safer to operate than other presses because of their low PSI system, and the parts needed to fix an RK press are standard in the industry and are found locally in North America.

In the end, a higher price doesn’t mean better performance. RK Machinery works closely with the client when constructing custom presses  to insure that it will be suited to fit their needs.
